We are looking at how our environment changes over Autumn

The children have enjoyed the additional natural resources to their play as well as participating in discussions about the changes happening this season.
They worked together to create a beautiful Autumnal painting, have make autumn 'cupcakes', collaged the autumn attire and explored Autumn Vegetables.

The children have had a lot of fun exploring easter.

They have decorated eggs for the egg and spoon race and explored the sensory tray including eggs, chicks, feathers and more.
We have done an easter egg hunt with treats for the children to enjoy, they made cards and decorated our spring themed wall with eggs, sheep and hand print leaves.

The children have been taking advantage of the glorious weather and using the fantastic surrounding we have at the preschool by using the equipment at the park and showing us their physical abilities.

They have also explored the field, looking for mini beasts in the bushes and listening to the sounds of nature.

We have loved investigating autumn again and have done lots of crafts and activities, the children have enjoyed hunting for treasures and checking off the 'Autumn Hunt Checklist'.
We have made a home for a  hedgehog in need and have been exploring textures making clay hedgehogs using sticks and buttons.
We have also had woodland animal shaped biscuits and sat on the field to eat them in the Autumnal surrounding.

Make a dinosaur swamp (green paste) mixing water, flour + green food colouring. Add pebbles, twigs/driftwood + plastic dinosaurs.

Challenge children to:

✔️ Order by size
✔️ Count dinosaurs + one more/one less?
✔️ Make enclosures for the dinosaurs

After speaking with some, it seems children have been enjoying arts + crafts as well as outdoors.

Here are some ideas to incorporate both of these.

🔵 🔺 To add to the learning experience you could discuss the shapes, colours and textures used, counting how many you have/what one more would be. 🔢  Encourage children to cut materials independently to strengthen their hand muscles ✂️ You could also experiment with colour mixing to find out which colours you could make 🌈 🎨

Considering the current situation Rainbows are  the colours to brighten up your day.
You can do lots  of different things with rainbow colours and patterns.

You can make rainbow potions and make up some magical spells.

Colouring/Painting rainbows, you could use different materials and objects to make fun patterns and textures such as sponges, potato printing, everyday items such as pen lids, fork prongs or anythign you dont mind getting paint on.

Rainbow hands, put some paint in a tray or on a plate in rainbow colour order, get your little on to put their hand in the paint and then press down on paper or card.

Experiment with you own ideas to.

We really love this elmer the elephant milk bottle idea.

A simple idea but so much fun! You can cut the bottle in half and cut the sides to make the legs.

Using tissue paper or coloured paper cut into little squares you can let your little on stick the patchwork colours on the elephant.

A little maths activity for you to try at home .
Matching number and quantity , it can be done different ways depending on your child’s ability .
1 ...Once the jelly fish and stingers are cut and stuck
2...Write the numbers and ask your child to draw the dots on each stingers , help them if they need support .
3...You can pre draw the dots before you stick the stingers on them count with your child and support matching the quantity to numbers
4...Start with numbers 1-5 for younger children .
4...For much younger children use colour matching instead of numbers .
5...You can also extend the learning with colour sequencing the stingers .
6...Talk to your child about what they have made and get them to check they have matched up the number to the correct quantity .

As we are in isolation whilst we are off preschool here are some Easter themed crafts for you to try at home.

Cotton Ball Rabbit is a great and easy activity that you can do with your child.
All you need is a piece of white paper, cotton balls, scissors, and glue.
**Draw and cut round the shape of a rabbit using the white paper. If your little one is confident enough and is able too let them give it a try. Then let them spread the glue over the rabbit and add the cotton balls. Cover the paper with cotton balls and there you have it a fluffy rabbit. You could let them add colour to it with dipping the cotton balls in paint or sprinkle some Glitter on top.

Toilet Roll Chicks are fun and simple crafts.
** Simply cut a slice off the tube for the wings, then cut the cardboard tube in half, you can use tape or glue to stick the two pieces on top of each other and then ask your little one to paint the chick, glue or tape the wings on the sides and add some eyes. You can use a piece of cardboard to make the feet and beak, cut the shapes out (either plain card the little ones can paint or coloured card) then glue them onto your chick.

Decorating an Easter Egg.
** Nice and easy, using paper or card cut out the shape of an egg and ask you little one to decorate it, you can use paint, colouring pencils, confetti, sprinkles, pom poms or even things like pasta.
